Are you throwing a Frozen birthday party for your little one?
We know how hard it can be to come up with creative ideas, especially when you’re a super busy parent and don’t have much time to devote to party planning.
That’s why we thought we’d share our experience in planning our daughter’s 4th birthday bash inspired by Disney’s Frozen movies.
From fun decorations to delicious treats, we’ve got some great ideas that’ll help make your little one’s special day even more magical (as if Disney’s Frozen isn’t already magical enough!).
So get ready for an unforgettable celebration filled with plenty of icy fun!
This post is all about our 4-year-old’s frozen themed birthday party.
Frozen Themed Birthday Party
Frozen Themed Birthday Party Invitation
First things first. Before the frozen-themed party can happen, obviously, you need to invite people to your party.
This was the first year we invited our daughter’s classmates to her birthday party, so it was a lot of fun getting ready for an event with all of her friends from preschool in mind.
When picking out invitations for your child’s birthday party, it’s a great idea to buy a digital download from Etsy.
Etsy has a wide selection of cute and creative designs to fit pretty much any theme, and you can usually easily customize them with your party information.
We used these purple Frozen-themed invitations, and they were so beautiful!
Sending the invitations
When it came time to send the invites, we had to be a little creative.
I didn’t know all of my daughter’s classmates’ addresses, so we created a digital invite through Paperless Post that could be easily shared via a link.
We also used Paperless Post for our daughter’s first birthday party invitations, and we absolutely loved it.
You can customize everything from your envelope color to the digital stamp, which makes it so much fun.
And it’s awesome that guests can easily RSVP online, and your account keeps track of all your guests.
Frozen Themed Birthday Party Decorations
We didn’t go overboard on the party decorations for our 4-year-old’s Frozen-themed birthday party.
And unfortunately, I didn’t get many pictures of the few birthday decorations we did have.
You see, my 4-year-old and her 3-year-old cousin spilled a bucket of what seemed like a million of these tiny beads about 20 minutes before guests were to arrive, and by the time we got that cleaned up, I swiftly finished up the remaining decorations and went into hostess most as guests started to walk in the door.
We used a combination of light blue/teal and white tablecloths to match the color scheme, Frozen-themed balloons, and a winter wonderland backdrop for fun pictures.
That was really about it.
I set up the largest table as the kids table with a variety of giant Frozen coloring pages and crayons spread out on the table to color with.
This was a fun way to add a small frozen-themed touch that doubled as a decoration and an activity for the kids.
We didn’t spend much money on the decorations, but the result was charming and fun, creating the perfect atmosphere for our birthday girl’s special day!
Frozen Themed Birthday Party Food
We hosted the party in the morning between breakfast and lunch, so we didn’t need to have a ton of food, but the party guests were still delighted by the fun frozen-themed snacks at our party.
An especially popular item was the melted snowman water station (just bottled water with a fun Olaf-themed label).
The kids especially loved the “Glacier Juice,” which was blue Kool-Aid and another fun label. Super easy!
Besides the drinks, we had various sweet treat options that brought Arendelle to mind, from powdered sugar donuts to blue jello jiggler squares that looked like ice.
And we can’t forget about the beautiful Frozen-themed cake topper purchased from our local grocery store.
Not only did all the treats look amazing, but they tasted delicious, too!
Other fun party food ideas to fit the theme:
- Ice cream cake
- Snowflake cookies
- Rice Krispie treats with blue and white sprinkles
- Carrots (either Olaf’s nose or Sven’s snacks)
- Pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate
- Light blue rock candy
- Hot cocoa bar
- Snow cones
Frozen Themed Birthday Party Activities
The activities are the heart of the party, and our Frozen party had plenty of great activities to entertain the guests.
These activities included:
- Paper Frozen-themed crowns for the kids to wear – we purchased a template for these from Etsy. I cut out these designs and glued them onto a piece of construction paper for durability, then tied the ribbon to the ends through a hole punch.
- Ice Fishing – We wrapped a box in white paper, cut a hole, and the kids “fished” using this Melissa and Doug magnetic fishing set.
- We hired an entertainer who specializes in kids’ parties who dressed up as Princess Elsa from Frozen. The kids participated in storytime and pictures with her and LOVED it! It made our daughter’s day extra special.
- Wand Decorating – We purchased this wand decorating kit and had the kids decorate their wands with markers and fun stickers.
- Dance Party – Songs like “The Freeze Dance” were perfect for the party theme.
- Of course, there was also the typical time to eat cake and open presents with the birthday girl.
Frozen Themed Party Favors
I always try to be intentional about the party favors we give out.
I want it to be something the kids can use and enjoy.
We decided to use bubble wands that we were able to purchase for $1 each.
I then tied a Frozen-themed slap bracelet to the top, along with a short note thanking the guests for coming.
Frozen Themed Birthday Outfit
If you read the post from our daughter’s 3rd Rapunzel-themed birthday, you already know I’m a big fan of the Little Adventures dresses.
They make these awesome twirl dresses that are comfortable and perfect for a party and everyday wear.
And the best part? They’re machine-washable!
We have the Rapunzel, Snow White, and Elsa versions (pictured above) of these dresses, which are our daughter’s favorites.
Our little princess fan has been wearing the Rapunzel dress at least once a week for over a year, and it still looks brand new.
Considering how hard kids are on their clothes, this is truly remarkable.
I can’t say enough good things about these dresses.
Thank You Cards
Of course, after the party, we sent thank-you notes to all our guests.
I didn’t want to pay for special Frozen-themed thank-you notes, but we still carefully selected cards that matched the day’s theme and included a group photo of everyone from during the celebration.
A few days later, all our friends and family received their thank you cards – with many expressing how thoughtful it was that we took the time to thank them for attending our child’s special day.
Sending out thank you notes is sometimes overlooked, but it’s a great way to show appreciation for those who were part of your special occasion!
